Under the direction of Kane Wound Care, the Wound Care Program at Grove Park offers our residents the latest evidence based protocols that promote prompt wound healing.

Our experienced nursing staff utilizes an array of specialty equipment to treat our residents’ wounds. Treatment modalities include ultrasound MIST therapy*, e-stim, diathermy and wound VAC therapy.

Following best practices in wound management and trained in the latest wound care techniques, our team effectively treats both acute and chronic wounds including:

• Diabetic Ulcers
• Arterial/Venous Ulcers
• Pressure Ulcers
• Surgical Wounds
• Postoperative Edema & Pain

We have rigorous protocols in place to stimulate tissue growth and faster healing of existing wounds, and to prevent the development of new wounds or pressure sores.

Our dedicated wound care nurse changes dressings frequently to maintain a clean and bacteria-free wound bed, and encourages and assists our patients to turn as needed. We provide surface support that includes low pressure air loss mattresses, and special wheelchair cushions. Of critical importance to the healing process is proper nutrition. Our dietitians work closely with our nurses and doctors to ensure every resident receives the diet they need.

*MIST therapy is a low energy, low intensity ultrasound delivered through a saline mist. It goes beyond the wound surface, stimulating the cells within and below the wound bed to accelerate the normal healing process.
